Project development.

1 attempt.....

I came up with the idea of exposing my face with my family members faces after talking to Rebbeca. Which was an opinion I agreed with, because it was a self portrait project and having a peace of my family in my project will make it more interesting and meaningful.

On this stage I was not really impress with my idea on my project, for me it looked simple and I really wanted to add more elements and make it look more interesting.

This thought got me experimenting on the other effect on photoshop, thinking back on the negative effective idea I did earlier on my photoshop experiments.

I was also not impress with this, so I fiddle and practice with the other tools and effect on the toolbar on Photoshop.

I manage to find a effect I really liked on the tool bar.

I really liked this effect, I like what it does to the contrast of the image, but the one thing I wasn't satisfied with is the way the two images are exposed.

So I was thinking about how I really like how Dan Mountford ideas of exposing buildings and a self portrait together, gave me an idea. I wanted to use images of places I'm familiar with, places I'm always around like my community, I wanted to use this idea because it has a familiar meaning to the reason why I wanted a family member in my self portrait on my first idea.
I took photos of the:
-Otara shopping center,
-The MIT Creative Arts buildings
-Manukau Westfield Mall building
These three places are the places I see everyday, and some how I have develop a feeling of comfort being around the these places, but not just the looks  but also the people I meet and the people I share the places with. I just have a personal connection to these places.

So now a had a main idea to base my project on, so I started putting my project together.

Final out come..

Reasearch on Exposure

I did some research on Exposure and I found some artist that i really enjoyed their work..

Multiple Exposure Series by Simone Primo

These multiple exposure photos were created directly on camera, without using post production softwares like Photoshop which thought it was impressive.

Double Exposure Portraits by Aneta Ivanova

I looked through Aneta Ivanova work and I liked her idea of using a limit color pallet. I like how she uses the simple color pallet of black and white. This gave me an idea of using a limit color pallet on my work.

Photography by Dan Mountford

Don Mountford work caught my eye, because I found the way he exposes the buildings in to the portrait really interesting.

Experiments on Photoshop...

I have started experimenting with Photoshop, I found emerging images together interesting, so that where I started, I still had the idea of hiding my face in my portraits, but it wont be completed hidden.
This is a photo of my sister I emerged on Photoshop...

I played around with the negative effect and I really liked it.

This was where I developed the idea of using the negative effect on my project.
